Koenig Ferrari 348 With A 520HP Twin-Turbo V8 Screams ’90s German Tuning Scene

A rare 1990 Ferrari 348 TS overhauled by Koenig has hit the market in the UK and has quite an interesting history.

The 348 TS left Ferrari’s factory just like any other but was immediately sent to Koenig in Germany to be modified into what it calls the Koenig Specials F48. This distinctive creation takes design inspiration from the iconic Ferrari F40 and saw the bodywork overhauled and some serious mechanical modifications made.

Starting with the exterior, there is a distinctive widebody kit with all-new panels, including a rear-end very similar to that of the F40. The Koenig Special F48 is also sitting on a set of multi-piece OZ Racing alloy wheels.

Elsewhere, Koenig bolted a pair of turbochargers to the original 3.4-liter V8 so the F48 now churns out an impressive 520 hp. The car also features a new ECU, an intercooler, upgraded suspension components, new carbon ceramic brake discs at the front and new steel discs at the rear. Adding to the car’s appeal is that it is one of just two right-hand drive F48s ever built and was once owned by the deputy chairman of Newcastle United FC, Douglas Hall.

A look inside reveals black leather seats, a gated shifter, a three-spoke steering wheel, and black floor mats with yellow piping. The listing notes that there is some slight sagging present on the seats but for the most part, the cabin looks to have been well maintained over the years.

The special 348 has been listed up for sale on Collecting Cars and will be sold with a duplicate service book, a 348 technical manual, dozens of invoices, MOT certificates, and other guides. It has been driven 40,666 miles (65,445 km).
