Anticipation could hardly be higher for BMW‘s latest and greatest upcoming product, the BMW M3 Touring – even if, we here in North America, are getting the proverbial shaft with this one. Now, it seems that photos a pre-production car have surfaced on Instagram.
The material shared by Wilcoblok, among others since deleted, show what is purported to be a completely uncamouflaged example of the wagon variant of the M3. Seen in all black, it’s next to a cover that appears to have been removed from the all-black pre-production model.

At a glance, however, this look like the test vehicles we’ve seen previously in spy shots and official communicationsm with wide, bulging wheel arches, and a big grille.
Those who would like an official (and clear) look at the all-important rear end of the 2023 BMW M3 Touring are in luck, though. BMW M prototype engineer Hans Rahn and BMW M development engineer Dirk Hacker lifted the veil on the back of the car just a few days ago in a video published by BMW M’s official YouTube channel.
They further revealed that it will get a 3D printed rear spoiler, quad tailpipes, and a rear diffusor. Fuel consumption figures shared at the end of that video suggested that the M3 Touring will only be available in the Competition xDrive guise, meaning that the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine will produce 503 hp (375 kW/510 PS) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque.
Rumors suggest that the BMW M3 Touring may be unveiled early this summer. Sadly, the high-performance wagon is not bound for North American shores, despite fans’ best efforts.
