Ford has released full specifications for the latest-generation Ranger in Australia, not long after the flagship Raptor variant was also unveiled for the local market.
In Australia, the entry-level engine offered for the 2023 Ranger takes the form is a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel. This mill produces 125 kW (167 hp) and 405 Nm (298 lb-ft) of torque and is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. Those looking for slightly more grunt will be able to upgrade to a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel with 154 kW (206 hp) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic.

Topping out the diesel range is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 rated at 184 kW (247 hp) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque and also mated to a 10-speed automatic. Unlike the 2.0-liter engines, the 3.0-liter turbo V6 adds an auto start/stop feature. Sitting at the pinnacle of the engine range is the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost of the aforementioned Ranger Raptor, churning out an impressive 292 kW (392 hp) and 583 Nm (430 lb-ft).
Aussies will be offered the 2023 Ranger in XL, XLS, XLT, Sport, Wildtrak, and Raptor guises. All variants, except for the Raptor, have 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs) of towing capacity with a 350 kg (771 lbs) tow ball weight limit. Further aiding in towing is an integrated trailer brake controller, trailer connection checklist, and a trailer light check. While most variants have full-time four-wheel drive as standard, the XL, XLS, and XLT can be ordered in rear-wheel drive guise.
“Our customers told us that one of the reasons they love Ranger is because it’s one of the best vehicles on the road for ride comfort and car-like performance. So, retaining that and balancing it with off-road performance has been key throughout the development of Next-Generation Ranger,” Ford dynamic experiences supervisor Rob Hugo said of the next truck.
While Ford has released comprehensive details and specifications for the new Ranger in Australia, it has not yet announced pricing info. Details about the U.S. model have not yet been announced either.
