The highly anticipated Audi Q6 e-tron has been caught with its camouflage lifted during a public drive giving us our best look yet at the all-electric SUV’s front end.
Dominated by a satin silver grille that’s topped with Audi’s four rings, the Q6 e-tron follows in the footsteps of its smaller sibling, the Q4 e-tron. The design elements to the side of the grille, meanwhile, are also filled in, though these are darkened to make them look more like intakes.
The headlights, meanwhile, are a complex matrix of lighting elements that, when they’re off, don’t appear to have any particular shape. When on, though, the design suggests that the lit-up area will be able to take many shapes. As seen in previous spy pictures, the Q6 e-tron will have a second row of lighting elements below the complex headlights.

The hood is also lifted in the pictures revealing a rat’s nest of cables and electronics. That would suggest that, although this is based on the Volkswagen Group’s new “premium platform architecture,” like many of the group’s vehicles that preceded it, it won’t have a frunk.
Although we don’t know specifically how much power the SUV will offer, we do know that the A6 e-tron Concept, a preview of a sedan on the same EV platform, makes up to 470 hp (350 kW/476 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. Audi claims that the car can get to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than four seconds and is good for more than 700 km (435 miles) of range on the WLTP cycle.
The Q6 e-tron will compete against the Mercedes EQC, the Jaguar I-Pace, the Tesla Model X, and the BMW iX. Within Audi’s lineup, it will slot in between the Q4 e-tron and the e-tron SUV.
Audi is expected to reveal the rest of the SUV before the end of 2022. An RS version is rumored to follow after.
