Cupra Teases Another Electrified SUV For 2024, Coming With New Hybrid Powertrains

Cupra has officially announced a new compact SUV model which will be available in mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms, starting from 2024.

The video teaser shows only the outline of Cupra’s upcoming SUV and, surprisingly, it doesn’t come with a coupe-style roofline. The new crossover will sit alongside the also upcoming Tavascan in Cupra’s range. The LED headlight and taillight graphics are visible under the cover, and appear to be different compared to Cupra’s current offerings.

The yet-unnamed model will measure around 4.5 meters (177.2 inches) long placing it in the C-SUV segment. Notably, the new SUV is longer than the existing Cupra Ateca measuring 4,376 mm (172.2 inches), and the Cupra Formentor measuring 4,450mm (175.2 inches).

Cupra didn’t reveal any specs of the model’s mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. The only bit of information revealed is a pure EV range of around 100 km (62 miles) for the “new generation PHEV technology”. This is greater than current offerings from the VW Group, hinting at an upgraded battery / electric motor setup.

Cupra will produce the new model at the Györ facilities in Hungary, alongside the Audi Q3 Sportback starting from 2024. This, in combination with the identical length, makes us believe that the SUV will be sharing the MQB platform with the Audi Q3 and Q3 Sportback.

Besides the electrified SUV, Cupra has confirmed two EV launches – the production version of the Tavascan arriving in 2024, followed by the production version of the UrbanRebel in 2025.
