A 2008 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster has just hit the used car market and while there’s no denying that the SLR is an extremely desirable car, we can’t help but wonder how many people would want to own one that looks like this.
First, the good. For starters, this is one of just 106 SLR McLarens that were built in 2008 and has only been driven 13,000 miles (~21,000 km). What’s not so good is the fact that it has been dramatically overhauled by Mansory with their infamous Renovatio body kit.

You may be familiar with the SLR McLaren that Mansory built all those years ago with a matte gold finish and the Renovatio kit. This example is a little more subtle as it isn’t painted in such a striking color and instead, the vast majority of its body panels are finished in exposed carbon fiber. This includes the hood, side skirts, front bumper, rear bumper, front fenders, rear spoiler, and rear diffuser.
Interestingly, Mansory didn’t apply carbon to every square inch of the body, leaving the trunk lid, rear quarter panels, and doors finished in the original shade of Osmium Grey. The SLR is also rocking a set of aftermarket black wheels with exposed titanium hardware and sitting over red brake calipers.
Mansory has also made some changes to the car’s interior, most notably by applying swathes of carbon fiber to the shift paddles, center console, dashboard, and steering wheel. The tuning company also tweaked the SLR’s 5.4-liter supercharged V8 so it now pumps out 700 hp and 649 lb-ft (879 Nm) of torque.
The car is up for sale through Chicago Motor Cars and has an asking price of $749,800. That’s a lot of money, especially since auction results reveal that stock SLR models seem to usually trade hands for between $200,000 and $350,000 depending on the mileage.
