Electrify America is introducing its vision for the future of charging with new stations that are designed to offer an improved customer experience.
The EV infrastructure company will showcase its new charging station concept at upcoming flagship facilities in Santa Barbara, San Francisco, San Diego, and Beverley Hills, California, as well as in Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York.
“Electrify America will be reinventing the look and feel at many of our charging stations to meet and exceed the expectations of customers moving from a gas-powered vehicle to an electric lifestyle,” said Giovanni Palazzo, president and CEO of Electrify America. “These new designs will help elevate the charging experience for our customers, building on the foundation of our ultra-fast and reliable coast-to-coast network.”

To make customers more comfortable, the stations will feature lounges and electric vehicle showcase areas, and may even have a dedicated event space. Overhead canopies, meanwhile, will shield customers from the elements and on-site security cameras will be installed. Charging stations located near malls, meanwhile, may offer valet services.
In addition, Electrify America is installing solar awnings at 100 charging stations, which will cover between 400-500 individual chargers around the nation. The awnings not only help keep your car cool, they will also gather energy that will help charge the vehicle.
In addition to these features, the company is also introducing a new charger design, which is smaller than before to allow it to be installed in areas with more space constraints. The new charging cabinets also feature a brighter touchscreen that is recessed more deeply to reduce glare and make it more readable. They will also have a single connector cable with an all-new cable management system that should make plugging in easier, no matter where the port is located.
“The momentum moving us closer to an electric transportation system is accelerating with consumers finding more and more choices of EVs from virtually every manufacturer,” Palazzo said. “Our customer research shows the need to transition to a more inviting charging experience that accommodates the human experience with waiting areas and other conveniences.”
