The Mazda RX-7 has quickly become unattainable for most people due to soaring prices and despite its value, there are plenty of examples out there that have been comprehensively modified. This particular RX-7 featured on an episode from That Racing Channel is one of them.
This particular RX-7 is a 1993 model and was purchased by the current owner roughly five years ago. Found under the engine bay is a three-rotor setup complemented by a massive 75 mm Borg Warner turbocharger. It also features 1,000 cc and 2,200 cc fuel injectors and a fuel pump from a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat but continues to rock the standard transmission and back end.

The owner notes that he hasn’t tested the car on a dyno in its current form but suspects it delivers around 550 hp to 600 hp. He ultimately plans to fit a T56 Magnum transmission to better the handle the extra power, allowing him to pump out some extra grunt whenever he wants.
Fitting the new three-rotor engine took quite a lot of time and while getting a shop to do the swap could cost $30,000 to $40,000, the owner did all the work himself. We’ve seen crazier RX-7s in the past, including one with a four-rotor setup churning out 600 hp and revving through to 11,000 rpm, but this example is well-suited to daily driving.
Of course, that’s not to say that the car isn’t fast; on the contrary, it picks up speed at a ferocious rate and quickly spins up its rear tires while struggling for traction.
