Earlier today we shared the news of the very first Bronco 6×6 we’ve ever seen and now we know a lot more about it. It turns out that this very same vehicle will go up for auction on April 9th at Barrett-Jackson in Palm Beach, Florida. Saddle up, because the details on this pony are seriously wild.
After our piece this morning on the Bronco 6×6, Apocalypse Manufacturing shot us a lot more information on this new creation. For one thing, we now know that Apocalypse adds a full three feet (.91 meters) to every Bronco that they turn into a 6×6 ‘Dark Horse’. That extra length provides space for a fully functional bed and the extra axle beneath it.
The factory top is discarded and in its place goes a custom fiberglass unit that’s just as removable as the original. There are more changes under the hood as well. The original twin-turbo V6 is still there but Apocalypse has added a tune, some bigger injectors, and an exhaust upgrade that allows for more boost without endangering the engine.

Instead of making the same 330-horsepower as the normal Bronco, the Dark Horse’s twin turbocharging V6 makes 400 horses. That’s on par with the new Bronco Raptor and the Hennessey Velociraptor Bronco. Of course, neither of those vehicles has the additional heft of dealing with all the components included in a 6×6 conversion.
Those components include 20-inch SFJ wheels, 37-inch Patagonia tires, a 4-inch lift kit, steel side steps, and a steel front bumper that’s been coated in Kevlar. Inside of the Dark Horse, you’ll find a King Ranch-esque trim package including dark brown leather on both the seats and the doors. As for pricing, details haven’t been announced yet.
The brand isn’t settling for this as the final form either. “The Dark Horse came out better then we could ever have dreamt, with all the in house upgrades that give it a style all its own while still keeping a huge chunk of its Bronco identity.” says Joseph Ghattas, owner of Apocalypse Manufacturing.
“In future builds for this model, customers could expect to see a 700+ horsepower supercharged V8 Coyote 5.0L motor upgrade, as well as a Kevlar coated exterior paint job,” he continued. We can’t wait to see those models when they arrive.
