As part of the Corvette Z06 Dealer Tour, in which Chevy’s latest supercar killer is paraded around to different dealerships across the country, a video was filmed at Florida’s Stingray Chevrolet showcasing the car’s crown jewel of an engine.

More specifically, that engine, a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-plane crank V8, is the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever put in a production car with 670 hp (679 PS / 500 kW) and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) on tap. That all allows the C8-based Z06 to make the sprint from 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 2.6 seconds, run a quarter mile in 10.6 seconds, and reach a top speed upwards of 200 mph (322 km/h).

The video that comes courtesy of the folks over at Corvette Blogger begins with the driver getting into the car and firing it up. He then proceeds to give it a few revs, but never hits its atmospheric 8,600 rpm redline, though we’d assume that’s either due to a soft rev limiter that’s active while the car is stationary or engine break-in period restrictions. After that, the crowd of people flocked around the Accelerate Yellow Chevy follow the car as the driver takes it outside. At that point, he does a few pulls in the parking lot, although due to limited space, we again don’t get to hear it hit redline.

That being said, we do at least get to listen to what it sounds like under load. And with a characteristic flat-plane crank howl accompanied by a symphony of pops, crackles, and bangs, it sure sounds good, though that’s nothing we didn’t already know. To hear the engine for yourself, you can check it out in the video below.
