A 2005 Ford GT that has been owned by musician Kid Rock since new will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s in the coming days.
It goes without saying that the Ford GT is one of the most iconic performance cars ever produced in the U.S. and Rock’s example left the factory in August 2004. It is painted in Mark IV Red with white racing stripes, a very popular combination at the time. In fact, no less than 669 Ford GTs were painted red and white like this for the 2005 model year.
The singer also selected all the available factory options when purchasing the car, including the forged aluminum BBS wheels, red brake calipers, and an upgraded McIntosh stereo system and subwoofer.

The listing notes that the car has been well cared for since Rock took delivery and has only been driven 3,096 mile (4,982 km). It is joined by a Ford GT poster signed by designer Camilo Pardo and will be sold with the original manuals, an air compressor, and a guitar signed by Kid Rock.
Like all other first-generation Ford GTs, Rock’s car is powered by a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 with 550 hp and 500 lb-ft (678 Nm) of torque, allowing it to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h). Lift up the rear clamshell and this engine is on full display, complete with a massive airbox used by the supercharger.
The interior of the supercar is bathed in black leather, in particular across the seats, door panels, dashboard, and steering wheel. There is also a manual shifter, a host of metal buttons and switches, and gauges that display everything from revs through to engine temperature, oil pressure, a battery voltmeter, boost pressure, and oil levels.
