The Tesla Model X Plaid has quickly established itself as the quickest production SUV currently on sale and eager to show just how capable it is, Brooks from the DragTimes channel on YouTube decided to line it up against his Lamborghini Huracan Evo for a series of tests.
Much like the Model S Plaid, the Model X Plaid is powered by three electric motors that combine to pump out 1,020 hp and according to Tesla, the SUV can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.5 seconds, sprint down the quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds, and top out at 163 mph (262 km/h). As you can probably guess, that gives it a significant power advantage over the Huracan Evo.
In fact, while the Lamborghini is a very impressive performance car, its naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 ‘only’ pumps out 631 hp at 8,000 rpm and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque.

The Lamborghini manages to get the leap on the Model X Plaid in the first race held between the two but after the sloppy launch, the Tesla makes the most of its extra grunt and quickly speeds past the Huracan Evo, taking a comfortable win and crossing the quarter-mile in just 9.89 seconds at 144.60 mph compared to the 11.13 second time of the Lamborghini at 129.89 mph.
A number of other drag races are held between the pair but the results remain the same. In the second race, things are a little closer as the Tesla set a time of 9.9 seconds compared to the 10.9 second time of the Huracan but that’s still a 1-second difference between the pair.
By setting consistent quarter-mile times in less than 10 seconds, the Model X Plaid isn’t just the world’s quickest SUV but one of the world’s quickest cars on the market. In fact, there are only a small handful of production cars that can complete the quarter-mile in less than 10 seconds, including the Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari SF90 Stradale, McLaren 765LT, Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1, McLaren 720S, and Porsche 911 Turbo S.
