Jeep today teased the latest concept it’s preparing for its annual celebration of all things off-roady. Although its official name has not yet been released and details are sparse, the model seems to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Rubicon trim.
“Twenty years ago, the Jeep brand introduced the most capable production vehicle of its time,” writes Jeep in its teaser. “Now, the newest Easter Jeep Safari Jeep concept celebrates the legendary 4×4 capability that continues to drive the Jeep brand and defy performance boundaries, decade after decade.”
Jeep offers little more information about the concept, but the image the brand has shared does offer some extra hints. Focusing on the front quarter of the SUV, the Rubicon badging on the side of the hood has an anniversarial “20” next to it. On the hood bulge, meanwhile, the numbers three, nine, and two can be seen, suggesting that this model, like other modern Wrangler Rubicons, will be powered by the 392 cubic inch Hemi V8.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Launch Edition’s 6.4-liter engine pumps out 470 hp (350 kW/476 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system, which helps the SUV get to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds.
Although it’s a fixture of the Jeep lineup today, the Rubicon trim was first used in 2002. The name was inspired by the historic Rubicon Trail, which is located in the Sierra Nevada mountains near Lake Tahoe. As a famous spot for off-roaders, the model it inspired had to be capable off the beaten track.
In 2002, the Wrangler Rubicon came with front and rear air-actuated locking Dana 44 axles and a Rock-Trac NV241 4:1 ratio transfer case, as well as diamond plated rocker panels, 16-inch alloy wheels, and Goodyear MTR P245/75-R16 tires.
Jeep has previously teased two other concepts for the 2022 Easter Jeep Safari, one 4xe electrified SUV that appears to be a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a modified Gladiator. Concepts from previous years will also be on hand for the April 9-17 event.
