We’re used to seeing combustion-engined icons get their asses handed to them by electric cars, but does that EV superiority extend to trucks? This latest video from Hagerty comparing the world’s fastest pickups proves it most certainly does.
The three hottest factory trucks currently available are the Rivian R1T, the Ram 1500 TRX and the Ford F-150 Raptor, but on paper, and on the track, there are huge differences between them.
While they all send their power to all four wheels, the electric Rivian’s wheels have 835 hp (847 PS) and 908 lb-ft (1,231 Nm) to deal with, while the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 Ram TRX can only muster 702 hp (712 PS) and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm).
The V6 Raptor trails behind with its 450 hp (456 PS) and 510 lb-ft (691 Nm), and even a colossal 1,226 lb (556 kg) advantage versus the 7173 lb (3254 kg) R1T is nowhere near enough to redress the balance.

The Rivian rips through the quarter mile (402 m) in 11.6 seconds at 111 mph (179 km/h), while the Ram takes 12.2 seconds (but with a 110 mph/177 km/h trap speed), and the Raptor is light years behind at 14.2 seconds and 94 mph (151 km/h).
In fact, the Rivian is so fast that Hagerty shows it can beat the Raptor even when towing a a classic GMC Syclone muscle truck from the 1990s. And as if the F-150 wasn’t feeling bad enough after that kicking, the Syclone (which looks like a toy in this company) is then wheeled off the trailer and strolls away from the Ford in another race under its own steam.
On a separate note, this video is the first of a new series of films from Hagerty called Cammisa’s Ultimate Drag Race Replay. Apart from deserving credit for the incredible production values, the Hagerty team should get a pat on the back for somehow managing to breathe new life into the done-to-death drag race format, a feat it manages through the clever use of drone footage and smart application of VBOX data, plus some deft script writing and presenting from host Jason Cammisa. We’re looking forward to the next one.
