In one fell swoop, Cadillac introduced the 2023 CT5-V Blackwing 120th Anniversary Edition and auctioned the first model for $250,000 (£192,241 / €230,822).
So what did a quarter of a million dollars get one lucky bidder? A limited edition CT5-V Blackwing that features a handful of special touches to mark Cadillac’s 120th anniversary.
Production is limited to 120 units and each model pays tribute to one year of Cadillac’s existence. The auction car was the 1902 Edition and it features commemorative sill plates, a special steering wheel badge, and a “B-pillar builders’ plate.” However, one of the coolest upgrades is a special shifter medallion which is reserved for cars equipped with a six-speed manual. Buyers will also receive a certificate of authenticity and a Spring Mountain V-Performance Academy driving experience.

While the changes are minor, the CT5-V Blackwing was already close to perfection as it features a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that develops 668 hp (498 kW / 677 PS) and 659 lb-ft (893 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the sports sedan to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 200 mph (322 km/h).
Besides the almighty engine, the Blackwing features an electronic limited slip rear differential and a sport-tuned suspension with Magnetic Ride Control. The model also boasts a shock tower brace, a high-performance braking system, and an aggressive exterior with a front splitter, extended side skirts, and a rear spoiler.
Cadillac didn’t say how much the 2023 CT5-V Blackwing 120th Anniversary Edition will cost, but the 2022 model starts at $83,995 before a $995 destination charge.
