Genesis has confirmed that the US-spec G90 will be available with the hybrid variant of the 3.5-litre V6 producing 420 hp. This powertrain was originally reserved for the long-wheelbase G90 which is not coming in the US but thankfully the regular G90 will also get it.
As discovered by Caranddriver through an official EPA document, the Korean luxury sedan will be fitted with the 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine coming with twin turbochargers and an electric supercharger. An electric motor/generator and a 9.8 kWh lithium-ion battery will comprise the 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

The total output will be 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS), which represents a healthy increase over the non-hybrid V6 which makes 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS). Despite being mildly electrified, the powertrain is slightly more thirsty than the pure ICE, with an EPA rating of 20 mph against 21 mph. In both cases, power is transmitted to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox and Genesis’ all-wheel-drive system.
The increased output brings the Genesis G90 closer to the mild-hybrid Mercedes-Benz S500 rival which makes 429 hp (320 kW / 435 PS). It also makes it more powerful than the entry-level Mercedes-Benz S450 and BMW 740i, which produce 362 hp (270 kW / 367 PS) and 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS) respectively from mild-hybrid 3.0-liter inline-six engines.
The US-spec range of the 2023 Genesis G90 will be detailed in the coming months when we will learn more details about pricing and performance for both powertrains.
