A low-mileage 2009 Honda S2000 CR owned by IndyCar driver Graham Rahal has shattered records and sold for a staggering $200,000 during a Bring a Trailer auction.

It is no secret that prices of used S2000 CR models have soared in recent years but we never thought we would see the day when one sold for $200,000. Evidently, people are finally recognizing just how great the S2000 is and how difficult it is to buy a low-mileage example that hasn’t been thrashed. Last year, a black 985-mile S2000 CR had sold for $112,111, while a couple months back, another CR with 5,500 miles (8,851 km) was auctioned for $122,500.

Rahal’s S2000 had a number of things going for it that contributed to the spectacular sales price. Most notably, it is a CR (Club Racing) variant, one of just 699 units sold in the United States. What’s more, the car has only been driven 123 miles (198 km) since first leaving the Honda factory, also meaning it is one of the lowest-mileage S2000s in existence.

The S2000 was sold with a window sticker, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin. It has obviously been well-maintained from the moment it was first delivered and shows absolutely no signs of wear. This includes the Rio Yellow Pearl paint that appears to be absolutely spotless, as well as the standard 17-inch wheels which are free of any scuffs.

It is a similar story in the cabin where the racing seats are clad in black Alcantara with yellow inserts and yellow contrast stitching and again, show no obvious signs of wear or aging.

Various upgrades differentiate the S2000 CR from regular models. These include a stiffer suspension, stickier tires, a quicker steering rack, a removable hardtop, a rear wing, and an extended front splitter. The CR weighs 90 lbs (41 kg) less than a standard S2000 but retains the familiar 2.2-liter four-cylinder with 237 hp and 162 lb-ft (220 Nm) of torque.
