Chinese automaker GAC Trumpchi is gearing up to introduce a production version of its striking Emkoo concept car on April 26.

Previewed by Chinese media through a series of detailed sketches and images of a heavily camouflaged prototype, it’s obvious that the new Emkoo will make quite a statement on the road.

Kicking off the eye-catching looks is a bold front fascia with sharp and angular LED headlights and daytime running lights. Moreover, the SUV features diagonal strakes across the front fascia. Also visible at the front end is a small lower grille and air intakes on either side.

Viewed from the side, it is the overall shape of the Emkoo that makes it stand out. The front half is relatively conventional but as you cast your eyes back, you will notice a very thick C-pillar and a steeply raked rear window. The Emkoo also features a spoiler stretching out from the rear of the roof.

The bold looks continue at the rear with a tailgate that sits very high and LED taillights just as sharp and striking as the headlights. While not clearly visible on the camouflaged prototype, sketches of the Emkoo show the SUV will also feature stacked quad tailpipes and a pronounced rear diffuser.

A pair of sketches showcasing the interior have also been released. They show a large infotainment screen jutting out of a cylindrical cell that also houses two air vents. A second teaser shows that the Emkoo will feature an audio system from Yamaha.

Further details about the vehicle aren’t known, other than the fact that it will by driven by a hybrid powertrain.

As mentioned, the new SUV from GAC will be unveiled on April 26 and will hit the Chinese market later this year.
