Lexus has released a new promotional video of its forthcoming RZ 450e ahead of its debut on April 20.

The all-electric Lexus RZ 450e is essentially a more luxurious version of the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra and this video shows the Japanese automaker putting it through its paces during development and testing. Just a few days ago, we published screenshots from this same video but this is the first time we’ve actually seen the RZ 450e on the move.

In general, the Lexus looks very similar to the Toyota and Subaru but one of the undisguised prototypes featured in this clip has a striking two-tone paint scheme consisting of burnt orange and gloss black panels. While we don’t yet know for sure if this paint scheme will be offered to customers, we suspect it will, as will a number of other two-tone options to help distinguish the EV from its slightly more affordable cousins.

This video of the RZ 450e also confirms that it will have a yoke steering wheel, just like the one that’s available in the bZ4X. We can also see that Lexus has given the EV a new infotainment screen better incorporated into the dashboard than the Toyota and Subaru and looking more reminiscent of other Lexus models. The RZ 450e also has a different transmission tunnel than its cousins, as well as a unique shifter and center console.

Under the skin, no significant changes are expected from the bZ4X. The Toyota is available with a 71.4 kWh single-motor powertrain pumping out 201 hp and offering 252 miles (406 km) of range, as well as a 72.8-kWh dual-motor version with 214 hp and good for 228 miles (367 km) on a single charge, although we’ll have to wait and see whether the Lexus adopts both powertrains or just the dual-motor one.

Pricing and availability details for the Lexus RZ 450e are expected to be announced during its online unveil on April 20.
