MINI is declaring its dedication to its roots with the Resolute Mode, a new trim inspired by the brand’s past that will start at $35,900 in the U.S.

The trim can only be ordered on the MINI Cooper S Hardtop 2 Door and costs $1,000 more than the standard model. That means that it’s powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that churns out 189 hp (141 kW/191 hp) and 206 lb-ft (279 Nm) of torque. With the standard six-speed manual transmission, it gets to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 6.5 seconds, while when equipped with the optional seven-speed Steptronic double-clutch transmission it takes 6.4 seconds.

Performance is an important aspect of this car’s spirit so its exterior is finished in Rebel Green, which is inspired by British Racing Green. The color was previously exclusive to the MINI John Cooper Works and here is contrasted by a Pepper White roof and mirror caps. The hood stripes, meanwhile, feature parallel lines in light and dark gold tones and there is a “RESOLUTE” inscription on those stripes as well as on the door sill finishers.

The brightwork surrounding the headlights, the radiator grille, the side scuttles, the door and tailgate handles, the air intakes, and the fuel filler cap are finished in Resolute Bronze, which is exclusive to this model. The MINI logo, the model name, the grille itself, the tailpipe trim, and the exhaust system are all finished in Piano Black, by contrast.

Inside, drivers are greeted by an anthracite-colored roof liner and sports seats, which are upholstered in exclusive Black Pearl/Light Chequered fabric and leatherette. Nappa leather sports seats can alternatively be selected at no extra cost.

The gold lines from the exterior are continued inside to form a pinstripe pattern. The Resolute Edition also gets a toggle switch that can be used to activate sportier driving characteristics from the drive and suspension systems.

The MINI Cooper S Hardtop 2 Door Resolute Edition went into production in March and has already started arriving in American dealers’ showrooms.
