A 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona is coming up for auction at an upcoming Mecum event and is said to be the most highly optioned example of the model known to exist.
This Daytona is one of only 70 examples produced in 1969 with the 426 cubic inch Hemi engine, and one of only 22 to feature an A833 four-speed manual transmission. The engine produces 425 horsepower thanks to dual Carter AFB 4-barrel carburetors and keeping it cool is the N51 Max Cooling Package which added a 26″ radiator, 7-inch fan, fan shroud, and power steering cooler.
The rare “Super Trak Pak” option was only available for 440/426 cars with 4 speeds and adds a Dana 60 rear end with a 4.10 gear ratio and a Sure-Grip limited-slip differential.
The best part of this muscle car has to be its paint, because it’s finished in a shade of F8 Dark Green Metallic with matching steel wheels and a black rear wing. The interior is a matching C6G Green with vinyl bucket seats.

Additional options include a C16 woodgrain center console, factory P31 power windows, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, tinted glass, Chrysler Solid State AM radio with 8-track player, N85 tachometer, remote left-hand mirror, locking gas cap, and the A01 Light Package.
Built at Chrysler’s Hamtramck plant, this gorgeous machine was shipped new to Dodge City, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona. The car was professionally restored a few years ago, with an emphasis on preserving the original sheet metal.
Dodge built the Daytona as a homologation special to allow it to race in NASCAR. The rear wing and front nose cone were so effective that the car was almost immediately banned, but not before it racked up numerous wins against the competition.
This 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona will be auctioned at Mecum’s Indy sale, on May 13-21. It comes with a copy of the original broadcast sheet, as well as the Chrysler Registry Report.
