Toyota U.K. today announced that the 2022 GR86 coupe will come at launch with an on-the-road price tag of £29,995 ($39,344 at current exchange rates).
At that price point, customers will get a manual transmission while those who opt for the automatic gearbox will, instead pay £32,085 ($42,086 USD). Both transmissions feature six gears.
The coupe, Toyota’s entry-point into the “pure-bred GR sports car” model range, will be offered with just one model grade. It comes with 10-spoke 18-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, an eight-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a backup camera with cross-traffic alert, a blind-spot monitor, LED adaptive headlights, illuminated entry, and a seven-inch instrument display.

As far as amenities go, GR86 customers in the U.K. will get leather upholstery, heated front seats, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, push-button start, and more as standard. Those who opt for the more expensive automatic model are paying for more than just the transmission, though, as they also get a collision-avoidance system with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam assist, and lane-keeping assistance.
No matter which model go for, it will be powered by a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder boxer that drives the rear wheel and makes 228 hp (170 kW/231 PS) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque, according to Toyota, though dyno testing suggests that may be a conservative estimate. That engine is good enough to get the manual version of the car up to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.3 seconds and the automatic variant up to the same speed in 6.9 seconds.
U.K. deliveries of the new Toyota GR86 will commence in July 2022.
