Callaway is a famous Corvette tuning house, best known for adding two turbochargers to fourth-generation Corvettes. One of those Corvettes is up for auction online, but doesn’t carry a lot of features that would make it stand out in a crowd.

Callaway didn’t make a large amount of these vehicles, but most of them feature wild paint colors, huge wheels, and body modifications that immediately let you know that it’s a serious performance machine. This Corvette isn’t like that, however, and features almost no exterior modifications.

Sporting just 36,200 miles on its odo, this 1988 Corvette is the 11th out of 400 Callaway Twin Turbo models built and is in extremely good condition for its age. The interior is in just about perfect shape as you would expect from a car with such low mileage, and features a totally 80’s digital dashboard.

Open up the clamshell hood and if you weren’t presented with two polished intercoolers, you probably wouldn’t realize that this was a highly modified machine. The intake manifold almost perfectly blends in with the rest of the engine bay, with the only concession to branding being the “Callaway” name in subtle silver outline script.

The 5.7-liter L98 V8 in this vehicle produces 382 horsepower and 562 lb-ft of torque thanks to the B2K Callaway twin-turbo conversion, with power being sent to the rear wheels via a Doug Nash 4+3 speed transmission.

Where are the turbos, you ask? They’re mounted way down low near the oil pan, making for a clean look and helping to retain a low center of gravity. The hood looks stock from the outside, but once it’s opened up you can see how the dual intercoolers are fed by a ram air-style scoop that sucks cold air from in front of the radiator.

Finally, the only exterior changes that would signal to competitors that this isn’t a vehicle to be messed with are the front badge which reads “Callaway Corvette”, a small script on the soft top, as well as the unique 17-inch Dymag wheels.

This 1988 Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette is currently being auctioned on Cars and Bids, where at the time of writing it has reached $17,500 with just a few hours left to bid.
