Tesla is no stranger to producing unique merchandise, with the EV company selling everything from surfboards and tequila, to the infamous “S3XY” shorts. Now, the automaker has filed for a trademark that suggests they could be producing another interesting piece of merch, but this time it might be with the help of a fan.

The trademark filed to the United States Patent and Trademark Office was spotted by Electrek, and it was just one of many filed by the company that week. However, while the majority of the filings were related to the company’s Cyber Rodeo event, this one was for something called a “CYBERBACKPACK”, and it was said to “cover the categories of book bags; school bags”. The interesting thing about this is that a backpack with that name already exists, it’s just not made by Tesla, at least not yet.

Back when the Cybertruck was first announced in 2019, a man by the name of Riz was inspired to make a backpack based on the truck. Three years later, his product came to market, and it’s called the Cyberbackpack (not in all caps like the trademark filing). With a shell made of real carbon fiber, the backpack is styled in the same wedge shape as Tesla’s triangular truck, and it even features slight indentations where the windows and bed cover are. It also has USB charging ports as well as a built-in combination lock. The backpack is currently listed for $200 on Riz’s website, but the price will supposedly increase to $350 after the first 300 buyers.

The similarity between the name of Riz’s product and Tesla’s trademark filing seems to suggest that the automaker might either collaborate with him or buy out the idea and produce it themselves. Either way, we could absolutely see Tesla selling a product like this, especially given their track record with things like a $50 “Cyberwhistle”. However, nothing about this backpack is known for sure, so we’ll just have to wait and see to find out.
