This is the Changan Lumin Corn, a new Chinese electric vehicle set to rival the nation’s best-selling EV, the Wuling Mini EV.
The Lumin Corn has been brought to life by Changan New Energy and CATL and uses Changanb’s EPA0 platform. Like the Wuling Mini EV, the Lumin Cornm is very small, sitting just 3,270 mm (128.7 inches) long, 1,700 mm (66.9 inches) high, 1,545 mm (60.8 inches) wide, and featuring a 1,980 mm (77.9 inch) wheelbase. Given the car’s compact footprint, it should come as a surprise that it will initially only be available with two small battery packs, namely one with 12.92 kWh of capacity and the other with 17.65 kWh.

What is surprising is that the smaller of these two battery packs provides a respectable 155 km (96 miles) of range while the 17.65 kWh pack is good for 210 km (130 miles) of range. Shoppers who require more range will be able to buy the Lumin Corn with a larger 27.99 kWh battery at a later date, complete with a claimed 301 km (187 miles) of range, Car News China reports.
All versions available at launch will be sold with a small electric motor producing 41 hp, while a 48 hp motor will be added to the range at a later date.
As you’ve no doubt noticed, the Lumin Corn is a two-door but it does have four seats. The front of the pint-sized EV sports a pair of cute circular headlights and has a small grille located below the license plate holder. Changan has then equipped the EV with a set of black and white aerodisc wheels to improve aerodynamics and even given the Lumin Corn a set of door handles that sit flush with the bodywork. Found at the rear are circular taillights.
The interior of the EV is very tech-forward. For starters, there is a small digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch central infotainment screen. Changan has also equipped the vehicle with physical climate control buttons and installed quite an attractive three-spoke steering wheel. We can also see plenty of surfaces bathed in leather and fabric, including the seats.
Changan has not yet announced pricing details for the Lumin Corn but we know it will launch in China in the second half of the year. It comes with a 3-year / 120,000 km warranty while the electric powertrain has an 8-year / 120,000 km warranty.
