The jewel of Mopars is undoubtedly the 1968 Charger, but add in a 426 Hemi, a four-speed transmission, and triple black paint scheme, and you’ve got the holy grail of all muscle cars.
This 1968 Charger is for sale by MGM Classic Cars in Addison, Illinois, and each of the options is enough to make Mopar enthusiasts faint from excitement, but add them all up and you truly tick all the boxes of the perfect muscle car.

Let’s start under the hood, where we can find none other than a 426 cubic inch Hemi V8 (that’s 7.0-liters). The vehicle originally came from the factory with a 440, but the engine was changed to a 426 during the restoration. The 426 Hemi was the top-of-the-line engine in the Mopar lineup for many years and was rated at 425 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque, but likely made a lot more.
The Hemi is connected to a four-speed A833 manual transmission, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a Dana 60 rear end with Sure-Grip limited-slip differential, which would take the Incredible Hulk to smash.
A true triple black car (black interior, exterior, and vinyl top), it also features the desirable red R/T stripe around the rear and a gorgeous set of Magnum 500 steel wheels.
The classic American muscle car was rotisserie restored over a period of four years, and no expense was spared to make the Charger as perfect as possible. To top it all off, power steering and power brakes make this a comfortable cruiser as well as a bare-knuckle bruiser.
For $195,000 this could be the ultimate Mopar muscle car, and we wish we could have it in our garage. All you’d need in addition to the Charger is a friend with a green 1968 Mustang Fastback, a free afternoon in San Francisco, and about 14 sets of hubcaps, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for fun.
