Kia and Toyota have been busy crossover-ifying their minivans, but Honda is going in a different direction by introducing the 2023 Odyssey Sport.
Designed to give soccer moms some street cred, the Odyssey Sport embraces the blackout trend as the grille, mirrors, lighting unit surrounds, rear pillars, and liftgate bar all feature a gloss black finish. They’re joined by tinted taillights and black 19-inch alloy wheels.
Despite turning to the dark side, the $41,210 minivan can be ordered in Platinum White Pearl or Radiant Red Metallic. However, fans wanting a full blackout appearance can opt for Crystal Black Pearl.

Moving into the cabin, buyers will find black leather seats with red contrast stitching. They’re joined by a matching steering wheel, a black headliner, and red illumination. Since the Sport trim is based on the Odyssey EX-L, it also comes nicely equipped with power front seats, a moonroof, and a power liftgate.
While the minivan wears the Sport moniker, it’s all show and no extra go as the 3.5-liter V6 engine carries over and continues to produce 280 hp (209 kW / 284 PS) and 262 lb-ft (355 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission, which sends power exclusively to the front wheels.
Besides the addition of the Sport trim, the entry-level Odyssey LX has been axed for 2023. That’s a disappointing development as it causes the base price of the minivan to skyrocket from $33,040 to $37,340. This is an increase of $4,300 and that’s before factoring in the $1,295 destination fee.
Sadly the price increases don’t end there as the EX costs $900 more than its predecessor, while the EX-L will set you back an additional $700. The 2023 Odyssey Touring also climbs $700 as does the range-topping Odyssey Elite.
Thankfully, it isn’t all bad news as all 2023 Honda vehicles come with two years or 24,000 miles (38,624 km) of complimentary scheduled maintenance. This helps to offset the price increases and customers can expect the minivan to start arriving at U.S. dealerships on May 23rd.
