BMW M has posted a couple of shadowy teasers of the upcoming M4 CSL on their official Facebook page, revealing new design details of the upcoming model which is set to debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2022. This is the second teaser appearance of the M4 CSL which is designed to celebrate BMW M’s 50th anniversary as the fastest, most powerful and lighter variant of the two-door coupe.
The M4 CSL will be easily distinguished from other M4s thanks to things like new taillights which appear to use the same OLED technology, similar to the previous generation BMW M4 GTS (F82). Here they look more futuristic with thin strips creating a three-dimensional effect.

We can also spot a ducktail spoiler that is integrated into the tailgate. This has been visible on the camouflaged test cars from the countless spy shots and made a surprise appearance in BMW M’s “Huddle Speech” video last February, giving us our first look into a fully uncovered hardcore M4.
Moving on to the front end, we can see that the M4 CSL will feature a set of black bonnet stripes, plus yellow-colored LEDs in a similar fashion to the BMW M5 CS. It almost feels like BMW knew we would try to brighten up the teasers and covered the car’s face with black, however, they left out the prominent splitter which is supposedly made of carbon fiber. Another special feature will be the redesigned grille with Y-shaped motifs, feeding more air into the modified engine.
Speaking of the powertrain, the CSL will likely get a more powerful version of the M4’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, rumored to produce around 540 hp (397 kW / 547 PS). This sounds like a healthy power increase over the 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) of the M4 Competition, and will definitely make it faster around the track when combined with weight-saving measures and the upgraded chassis tuning. The M4 CSL is expected to get a more focused suspension setup, larger brakes with bronze callipers, and a set of lightweight alloy wheels shod in stickier tires.
We will learn more about the M4 CSL in the official unveiling at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este between May 20 and 22, although it is possible for BMW M to continue the teaser campaign with more revealing photos.
