We’re big fans of many of BMWs current models, in particular the gorgeous 8-Series. However, we don’t think there is a current BMW that is quite as cool as this 1973 3.0 CS currently up for auction.
The beautiful Bimmer left the factory painted in Sahara Beige but in 2013 was resprayed in the current Deep Sea Metallic, perfectly complementing the shape of the car. Various other touches have been done to freshen up the exterior, including the removal of the side reflectors and the application of ceramic tint to the windows.
Elsewhere, the Bring a Trailer listing reveals the car is fitted with 16-inch BBS mesh wheels complete with BMW center caps and wrapped in Continental tires. The 3.0 CS had the front lower control arms replaced in 2012, new brake pads were installed in 2020, and a brake fluid flush was performed in April 2022.

The interior is just as lovely as the exterior. Immediately making an impression are the beige leather-trimmed seats with matching door panels, brown loop carpets, and a black dashboard. The front seats and carpets were replaced in 2013 and the door panels and wood dashboard were refurbished in 2015. Also found within are a Sony AM/FM CD stereo running Alpine speakers and a wood-rimmed Nardi three-spoke steering wheel.
Power comes courtesy of a 3.5-liter M30 inline-six that was installed in the 1990s and converted to fuel injection back in 2007. This engine is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission complete with a short shifter.
The car has been driven a total of 94,000 miles (~151,000 km) but it appears that is the mileage of the engine, not the chassis itself. Nevertheless, it goes without saying that BMW doesn’t produce vehicles like this anymore and we fully expect it to generate quite a lot of interest.
