John Cena has taken delivery of a restomod MG that has buckets more performance than the original.

Cena’s classic sports car started life as a 1969 MGC GT, which differentiates itself from the standard ‘B’ by featuring a six-cylinder engine instead of the standard (and weak) four-cylinder.

The body kit is so subtle that you might not notice it if you weren’t looking closely, but the huge fender flares become apparent when you catch a glimpse of an original model. The torsion beam suspension of the original MG was tossed away in favor of a Mustang II setup at the front and a four-link setup in the rear, with coilovers all around for adjustability.

Under the hood is a 6.2-liter LS V8 from Chevrolet, topped with a set of aftermarket individual throttle bodies and chrome-plated trumpets. The engine is good for over 600 horsepower, which is a lot for a vehicle that barely weighs 2,100 lbs (952 kg). The engine is connected to a six-speed manual transmission.

The rest of the engine bay has been shaved for a clean look, and the bright orange paint coupled with the baby blue of the body is reminiscent of the Gulf livery found on classic Porsche and Ford race cars.

The paint scheme continues into the interior, featuring blue seats with orange piping. Almost none of the 1969 interior remains, all replaced with modern, classy, touches. Cena was worried about fitting into the tiny sports car, as he’s not only a tall man but a wide one as well.

Obviously, there are convertible versions of the MG, but they don’t look as cool as the GT models. To try and make Cena fit, the seats were moved back and the pedals were moved forward. Cena specifically wore a suit to the reveal to make sure that entrance and egress can be made at any time and any place, and the tiny British beauty passes the test with flying colors. In fact, Cena was so impressed with the results, he decided to gift the shop with another project: a Bugatti Type 57C replica.
