Land Rover Launches 2023 Defender 130 Configurator, Prices Top Out At $119,575

Land Rover unveiled its new, extended length Defender 130 just yesterday, and already interested American customers can build and price their own. With its new configurator, the automaker has revealed both the SUV’s customizability and how much each trim costs.

Although Land Rover said that the Defender 130 S would start at $68,000, we now know that the Defender 130 SE starts at $78,300, the Defender 130 X-Dynamic SE from $81,400, the Defender 130 First Edition at $84,700, and, finally, the Defender 130 X from $99,900 (all prices exclude a $1,350 delivery fee).

All come with Land Rover’s 3.0-liter inline-six that makes 395 hp (295 kW/400 PS) except for the Defender S. It is also powered by a 3.0-liter I6, but it makes just 296 hp (221 kW/300 PS) for duty in the base model.

The new model is an extended version of the Defender 90 and 110 variants. At 210.9 inches (5,358mm) in length, it’s 13.2-inches (340 mm) longer than those models and it gets an extra row of seating because of it. Crucially, though, the approach and breakover angles remain unchanged, with only the departure angle suffering slightly because of the extra length.

In our attempt to max out the price of the premium SUV, we built a Defender X with the $4,800 Explorer pack, which adds mudflaps, wheel arch protection, a raised air intake, a side-mounted gear carrier, and more. We also added several black exterior accents, as well as the $2,200, 22-inch gloss black wheels. Inside, the well-equipped model didn’t have many more ways to add to the price, though we did decide that a front center console refrigerator sounded like a civilized addition.

Along with a few other accessories like WiFi, a towing package, and some fancy wheel nuts—though, amusingly, it doesn’t cost any more to get the smoker’s package—we were able to push the vehicle’s price all the way up to $119,575 (including delivery fee).
