Maserati today announced that its customers will be offered a new way to “admire the sky” on Wednesday, May 25. Although it did not divulge what that will be, it is likely the previously-announced convertible version of its supercar, the MC20.
In its Instagram post, the automaker uploaded three different photographs of the sky, looking straight up as if from the seat of a convertible vehicle. It has long been referencing the sky in the teaser campaign for its upcoming MC20 convertible.
Maserati shared official images of the drop-top supercar in December 2021. Although covered in camouflage whose design looked like a cloud-dappled blue sky, the brand couldn’t hide the modifications made to the roof structure, the missing side rear window, and the updated design on the rear deck.

The Italian automaker confirmed that the body was still made of carbon fiber, which should help prevent it from adding too much weight with structural supports to make up for the missing roof.
The MC20 convertible will be powered by the same engine that was first revealed in the coupe. It’s a 3.0-liter V6 that makes 621 hp (463 kW / 630 PS) and 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) of torque, which helps it get to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds and onto a top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h).
Maserati has promised that, in addition to the convertible variant, it will release an all-electric version of the MC20 that it said will “absolutely be more powerful” than the ICE model. It is unclear if it will also be available as a convertible.
