McLaren Senna XP El Triunfo Absoluto Is As A One-Off Tribute To Senna’s Mexican Grand Prix Win

The McLaren Senna was already a rare bird as production was limited to 500 units. However, McLaren Beverly Hills has upped the exclusivity factor with a run of four special editions commissioned through McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

While the first three have already been unveiled, the company has now taken the wraps off the fourth and final model known as the Senna XP El Triunfo Absoluto (The Absolute Triumph).

Designed to celebrate Ayrton Senna’s win at the 1989 Formula One Mexican Grand Prix, the model served as a press car before being sent back to the UK to be rebuilt in 2021. As part of the process, the car was given a new look as it now features a Graphite Grey exterior with Accent Red and Mexico Green flourishes that pay tribute to the race.

They’re joined by an assortment of special touches including MSO Bespoke Gloss Visual Carbon Fiber, an MSO Bespoke Electroform front badge, and Anniversary White center locking wheel nuts. A closer inspection also reveals Ayrton Senna’s signature, a hand-painted Mexican flag on the rear wing, and El Triunfo Absoluto badging. Even the gas cap is unique as it features a Mexican flag design.

Moving into the cabin, there’s an MSO Bespoke Jet Black leather interior that features seats with Pure White and Bright Red contrast stitching as well as headrests with an embroidered Mexican flag. Drivers will also find green carbon fiber, painted door struts, and carbon fiber sill plates with an “airbrushed depiction of Ayrton Senna on the podium in 1989.”

Other highlights include a multicolored steering wheel, polished accents, and a bespoke accelerator pedal that has a laser-etched version of the Mexican Grand Prix track layout. Capping things off is an a MSO Bespoke dedication plaque etched with “EL GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO DE 1989.”

One thing that hasn’t changed is the car’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that pumps out 789 hp (588 kW / 800 PS) and 590 lb-ft (799 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which enables the model to rocket from 0–62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h).
