Polestar has confirmed that the all-electric 3 will debut this October and take the form of a premium performance SUV.
The Polestar 3 will follow in the footsteps of the 2 as the automaker’s second EV built from the ground up and was first teased late last year. Polestar chief executive Thomas Ingenlath confirmed its debut during the brand’s latest financial earnings report.
“We believe our future growth will be further accelerated by our entry into the lucrative SUV market later this year with the world premiere of the long-awaited Polestar 3 electric performance SUV in October. Polestar 3, which will be manufactured in the US and China, will stand out amongst other SUV offerings and boost our strong growth trajectory to take us into our next phase,” Ingenlath said.

U.S. production of the vehicle will be handled by Volvo’s factory in Charleston, South Carolina alongside the next-generation XC90.
Teaser images released of the Polestar 3 reveal that it will have a low, crossover-like design and perhaps look even more dynamic than the Polestar 2. One of the most striking aspects of the SUV will be the Thor’s Hammer headlights as well as the stylish front fascia. The 3 will also land with a set of dynamic-looking wheels and have a steeply raked shoulder line that flows up to a spoiler over the rear window.
While many technical aspects of the Polestar 3 remain under wraps, we do know that it will be offered in single and dual electric motor guises. The car manufacturer has also revealed that the 3 will sport advanced autonomous highway driving technology that uses a LiDAR sensor with Luminar and Nvidia computing power.
Polestar is working on at least two other models, the 4 and 5. The 4 will land in 2023 and be positioned as a smaller electric performance SUV coupe while the Polestar 5 will hit the market in 2024 as a four-door GT.
