Two years after it was first announced, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) has launched a new off-roader dubbed the 008, combining the sleek looks of the 004 race car with the abilities of the Baja Boot.
Importantly, the SCG 008 is not a vehicle you can order and collect from the factory. Instead, it will be sold exclusively as a kit car that owners themselves must assemble. The package contains most of the parts needed to bring the vehicle to life but does not include an engine, gearbox, wheels, or tires. Glickenhaus notes that it can sell the 008 package with wheels, tires, and optional gearboxes but cannot sell it with an engine.
Included in the package is a CNC bent and TIG welded carbon steel chassis complete with all the necessary tabs and brackets for steering, brakes, pedals, dashboard, seat, fuel cell, cooling systems, and more. The 008 also comes with independent front and rear suspension with TIG welded upper and lower control arms, trailing arms, Fox coilover shocks, Eibach coil springs, a rear sway bar, and rear bump stops.

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has also designed a fiberglass body for the 008 as well as a complete fuel system with a 30-gallon fuel cell, pump, pressure regulator, filter, lines and fittings, fuel neck, and a fuel fill cap. A complete cooling system also comes with the package and consists of an aluminum radiator, cooling fans, engine oil cooler, coolant expansion tank, and plumping lines and fittings. Wilwood brake calipers, master cylinders, and pads form part of the package, as does a Howe 2.5 steering rack, steering tie rods, steering control valve, steering shafts and U-joints, and all the necessary mounting hardware.
All important electronics also come standard. These include a digital display, a complete wiring harness, keypads, horn, headlights, turn signals, taillights, cabin lights, and a battery.
Individuals who plan to build an SCG 008 and fit it with an engine of their choice can register it for road use in the U.S. as a “home built” vehicle, the company says.
The SCG 008 package has officially launched in Founders guise and costs a cool $99,995. Those looking to secure an allocation can place a $1,000 deposit. Shipments of the first packages will start shortly after SCG’s participation at November’s Baja 1000.
