The Lucid Air has already been subject to another recall, with NHTSA documents suggesting that as many as 1,117 vehicles could be affected — which, considering the low delivery numbers, could translate to a large percentage of, if not all, Airs on the road.
The recall centers around a fault that could cause the display screens to be disabled. Of particular concern is the inability of affected vehicles to display critical information including speed, gear selection, and warning lights. As a result, this causes the cars to fall foul of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, “Control and Displays.”
The root of the issue has been identified as the Ethernet wiring harness for the Glass Cockpit instrument panel. According to the NHTSA, “the harness can become damaged by rubbing against another part of the vehicle, and disable the display screens.”

Thankfully for owners, the fix appears to be quick and painless. According to Lucid Insider, one owner was told by the Lucid service center in Riviera Beach, Florida, that the fix “takes a few minutes,” and all that was needed were some zip ties to secure the Ethernet harness.
Both the Dream and Grand Touring models are impacted by the recall, and it could explain reports of delayed deliveries, while some owners have been informed of a third final inspection.
It’s not the first recall for Lucid either, with 203 Airs being called back to service centers within months of rolling off the production line. In that case, it was due to an incorrectly assembled suspension part.
The latest recall notice will be mailed to owners by June 20, with instructions on how to avail of the free-of-charge fix. Alternatively, owners may call Lucid customer service to book an appointment.
