A Japanese rental car business dubbed Arios recently transformed a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 into a dedicated drift car and while it’s not available for rent, it is very impressive.
As standard, the MP4-12C GT3 is a true race car capable of some serious performance. However, it has also designed to produce plenty of downforce in order to maximize grip. That’s good for lap times but it’s not so good if you want to get sideways so Arios had to make a number of significant modifications to the mid-engined supercar.

Famed Japanese drifter Daigo Saito played a role in altering the MP4-12C GT3 which saw various suspension changes made to give the race car a much greater steering angle. In addition, the McLaren has been equipped with a hydraulic handbrake and the racing steering wheel was modified and tweaked into a more traditional circle shape.

Driving the MP4-12C is the same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that it left the factory with. To comply with racing regulations, this engine was capped at 493 hp but we suspect Arios might have made some modifications to it so it produces nearer to the 592 hp that the road-going MP4-12C delivered. Regardless of precisely how much power the car has, a video of it drifting shows that it has more than enough grunt to light up the rear tires and hold some very impressive slides.
