Coming as the return of the Microbus in electric form, the hype surrounding Volkswagen’s new ID. Buzz was naturally quite significant. That being said, most were agreeing that VW had to price it right in order for it to be successful. Now, the automaker has just released pricing for the vehicle in the German market, so consumers can finally make the decision for themselves.

The regular, five-seat ID. Buzz starts at €64,581 ($67,684) and will initially only be offered in the Pro trim. For that money, you get an 82 kWh (77 usable kWh) battery that allows the rear electric motor to output 201 hp (204 PS / 150 kW) and 229 lb-ft (310 Nm) of torque. Range for this model as estimated by the WLTP cycle is 424 km (261 miles), which isn’t too bad considering that the shape of the vehicle is more or less a rounded block. Additionally, the battery can be recharged from 5 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes at a DC fast-charging station.

The stripped-out ID. Buzz Cargo starts at €54,430 ($57,049), or just about €10k less than the passenger version. It features the same powertrain with all the same specs as the passenger van, but the range is slightly higher at 424 km (263 miles), likely due to a lower weight resulting from the seat delete. The Cargo also has a partition behind the front seats as well as painted panels in place of the rear windows. But before you go thinking it’s just a normal ID. Buzz without the rear seats, it’s also worth noting that the cargo area has been properly outfitted with new materials and plenty of mounting points to accommodate the working professional.

Just like the original Microbus, customization options for the ID. Buzz are numerous. Volkswagen will be offering 11 different color variants as well as seven different wheel and tire combinations (ranging from 18 to 21 inches), allowing buyers to make their vehicle unique to them. The interior will also be offered in a variety of Style Packages that can be color matched to the exterior of the vehicle, meaning that in addition to the normal white blacks, and greys, your interior could be yellow, orange, blue, or even green.

Standard equipment for both models starts with a full suite of driver assistance system, which includes such features as Car2X, swerve support, automatic braking, lane-keep assist, Dynamic Road Sign Display, and Park Distance Support. The vehicles also come with a 5.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.3-inch infotainment system, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Optional equipment includes things like the Design Package, which offers upgraded exterior lighting, the Comfort Package, which adds additional interior functionality, as well as various other packages for things like keyless entry, additional driver assists, navigation, and an upgraded sound system.

The ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo will be available to order through Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles dealerships beginning on May 20, with a configurator allowing buyers to spec their ID. Buzz to their liking. And for those wondering about the U.S.-spec version of the van, it is expected to arrive stateside in 2024 as a passenger-only model with a larger battery, a longer wheelbase, more seats, a more powerful dual-motor AWD option, and a starting price of around $55,000 before any incentives.
