The anniversary celebration continues at Mercedes-AMG as the company has introduced the GLE 53 and GLE 63 S Edition 55s.
Available in both standard and coupe form, the special editions have an Obsidian Black Metallic or Manufaktur Diamond White Metallic exterior with 22-inch forged wheels that feature a matte grey finish. They’re joined by AMG graphics, “Edition 55” center caps, and a silver chrome fuel filler cap with AMG lettering.
The changes don’t stop there as the crossovers are equipped with the AMG Night Package, which adds high-gloss black window surrounds and matching mirror caps. Other highlights include a black chrome exhaust and heat-insulating rear glass.

The special touches continue inside as drivers will find red and black Nappa leather upholstery, carbon fiber trim, and an embossed AMG crest on the center console’s palm rest. Other highlights include an AMG Performance steering wheel with microfiber inserts and “Edition 55” badging as well as stainless steel door sill plates with red illuminated AMG lettering. Last but not least, the models have black AMG floor mats with red contrast stitching and “Edition 55” lettering.
Under the hood, the GLE 53 and GLE 53 Coupe have a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine developing 429 hp (320 kW / 435 PS) and 384 lb-ft (521 Nm) of torque. The models also have an EQ Boost system with an electric motor that can deliver an additional 21 hp (16 kW / 21 PS) and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque for short periods of time. This setup enables the models to run from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 5.2 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Likewise, the GLE 63 S and GLE 63 S Coupe have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 developing 603 hp (450 kW / 611 PS) and 627 lb-ft (849 Nm) of torque. They also have an EQ Boost system, but the big news is a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 3.7 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).
Each model will be limited to 55 units in the United States and each comes with a tailor-made AMG indoor car cover. European customers will also get GLE Edition 55s, although they’ll have more options as there will be GLE 63 variants as well as GLE 63 S versions.
