Alfa Romeo Stelvio Goes All Fast & Furious With A Wide Bodykit

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is hands down one of the sportiest SUVs money can buy when it comes to driving dynamics, either we’re talking about the base model or the performance-focused Quadrifoglio. For Stelvio owners who are fans of boy racer looks, SD Carbon is offering a wide bodykit for the Italian SUV, making it look like it came out of the Fast and Furious film franchise.

Despite being originally introduced back in 2016 and waiting in line for an imminent facelift, the Stelvio hasn’t gotten much love from the aftermarket world. The reason for that is that tuners usually focus on more popular rivals in the SUV segment, such as the Audi Q5, the BMW X3, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Still, the custom bodykit from SD Carbon is quite extensive, drastically changing the appearance of the Stelvio.

The most eye-catching feature is the front and rear fender flares made from FRP. As you can see in the photos taken during the conversion process (blue Stelvio), the vastly increased width makes the use of spacers more than necessary in order to bring the wheels in line with the fender add-ons. In fact, a set of aftermarket wheels with wider tires like the ones on the finished model look more fitting with the widebody treatment.

Other than the fenders, there is an extension for the front bumper with a prominent carbon fiber splitter, while the optional vented bonnet made of FRP or carbon fiber adds more aggresiveness. Wider side skirts, a ducktail spoiler and a larger roof spoiler have been added to the mix, together with a carbon fiber diffuser. The latter looks weird with the stock dual tailpipes, so owners will probably want to upgrade to beefier quad ones. All those parts will definitely limit the off-road capabilities of the Stelvio, but the SUV was already a road-focused proposal and most owners wouldn’t be using it off the beaten track anyways.

According to SD Carbon, the bodykit was created for the base variants of the Stelvio. However, a UK-based company called Deranged has made some changes and retrofitted it to the full-blown Quadrifoglio. This unique model came with a set of 22-inch Vossen wheels and didn’t feature any performance modifications, wearing the stock twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 that produces a healthy 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) right from the factory. At the moment there is only one widebody Stelvio Quadrifoglio known to exist in the UK, while our online research revealed various non-Quadrifoglio Stelvio models wearing the styling kit.

The entire kit is offered by the Performance Speed Shop in the US for a price of $6,180 excluding the bonnet. Alternatively, you can opt for individual purchases of the $1,512 carbon-fiber hood ($880 FRP hood), the $1,290 front lip, the $1,680 FRP fender flares, the $760 side skirts, the $480 ducktail spoiler, the $680 rear spoiler, and the $1,290 diffuser. The aforementioned prices are for a woven carbon fiber pattern with a gloss finish, since the optional forged pattern is 20 percent more expensive, and the matte finish adds a further 10 percent to the cost.
