The Ford F-Series is celebrating its diamond jubilee in 2023 and to honor its workhorse, Ford has decided to create a special line of 75th anniversary “Heritage Edition” trucks with two-tone paint colors.
Intended as a modern take on the two-tone exterior paint schemes that Ford (and others) offered on its trucks in the last century, the automaker will offer the new special edition in five color combinations. Customers will be able to choose from Race Red, Atlas Blue, Antimatter Blue, Avalanche, or Area 51 midsection colors. They will be matched to roof and lower sections that are either finished in Carbonized Gray or Agate Black.
The darker colors will be found not just on the roof and pillars, but on the bumpers, lower door, and lower body sections. Which sounds alright, but in my opinion the lack of contrast color options is a missed opportunity. As shown in the video below, the trucks of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s all had one thing in common and that was white highlight colors, not dark ones.

Indeed, the recent spate of dealer-painted throwback trucks all did the same and the brighter color serves to accentuate the truck’s proportions, rather than hide them as the gray and black do here. With no brighter options, these trucks don’t feel all that retro to me.
Ford’s customers may disagree, though, and those who do will be treated to interiors in slate gray and black. Distinct seat trim covers, meanwhile, have unique inserts and embossing on the console lid to further highlight the “Heritage” design. To top it all off, a white “75 Years” logo can be found in the upper center windshield and is included in the center screen startup animation.
Pricing has not yet been revealed, but it will be when order banks open in mid-July. Production of the 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition starts this fall.
