The Urus SUV is officially the best-selling vehicle in the shortest period of time in Lamborghini’s history after the 20,000th example rolled off the line today.
Painted Viola Mithras and destined for a lucky customer in Azerbaijan, the Urus has black wheels and black brake calipers, giving it a bit of a heavy metal vibe.
The Italian super SUV is responsible for doubling production for Lamborghini. Not only did production grow, the brand’s San’Agatha Bolognese factory literally doubled in size, too, swelling from 80,000 square meters (861,113 square feet) to 160,000 square meters (1,722,226 square feet) to accommodate the new vehicle. A total of 500 new staff members were also welcomed to the plant to help produce it.

And that new production capacity was aimed at growing sales for the brand. When it was introduced, more than 70 percent of initial orders for the Urus were from customers who had never purchased a Lamborghini before.
Those customers have been fans of color, too. According to Lamborghini, the most popular colors chosen for the Urus through its Ad Personam program so far have been Grigio Telesto, Blu Cepheus, and Viola Pasifae.
It’s not all about colors, though, it’s also what the Urus is packing under the hood. Powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, drivers can make the most of 641 hp (478 kW/650 PS) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque to help them get to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds.
“From the first moment we presented the Urus concept at Beijing motor show in 2012, to its market debut in 2018 and each year since, the Urus has proved its instant and continued appeal as a true Lamborghini, born from our super sports heritage and the world’s first Super SUV, the LM 002,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO. “The Urus is a perfect complement to our super sports model ranges, providing a luxurious and high-performance daily drive for those who identify with our authentic Italian brand.”
