Following the recent teasers and leaks, Suzuki has revealed the new Brezza, an urban SUV that replaces the Vitara Brezza with updated styling inside-out and a single mild-hybrid powertrain option. The Brezza is marketed as an all-new generation but under the skin, it is sharing the architecture with its predecessor.
The new model adopts a modern style with a heavier dose of plastic cladding around the bodywork and aluminum-style skid plates. The LED headlights are connected to the new grille, the straight beltline is a continuation of the bonnet, while at the back we find horizontally arranged LED taillights. As with most small SUVs of our time, the Brezza is available in duo-tone exterior shades with a black roof.

The urban SUV has a smaller footprint than most European supermini models. More specifically the new Brezza measures 3,995 mm (157.3 inches) long, 1,790 mm (70.1 inches) wide, and 1,685 mm (66.3 inches) tall, with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm (98.4 inches). All those figures are identical to its predecessor besides the slightly increased height.
Inside we find a fully redesigned dashboard that looks typical of a Suzuki product with metal-like accents and a two-tone style for the hard plastics. The new free-standing infotainment touchscreen with a diameter of up to 9 inches is a welcome addition, bringing more connectivity features. The steering wheel has integrated buttons just like in the Suzuki Baleno, while the climate controls have been modernized.
Higher grades get plenty of equipment for the segment including an electric sunroof, a wireless charging pad, a 360-degree camera, a head-up display, a premium sound system by Arkamys, USB ports, and rear AC vents. However, don’t expect to find a digital instrument cluster or any fancy ADAS on the menu, since this is an entry-level SUV for India.
The Brezza is exclusively offered with a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter DualJet engine that produces 102 hp (76 kW / 103 PS) and 137 Nm (101 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to the front axle through either a five-speed manual gearbox, or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
Pricing for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza in India starts from Rs 7.99 lakh ($10,105) for the entry-level manual, and goes up to Rs 13.96 lakh ($17,654) for the most expensive variant with an automatic gearbox. This makes it pricier than its predecessor and most of its rivals, with the higher price tag being somewhat justified due to the adoption of mild-hybrid tech.
Speaking of rivals, the competition is quite strong, including the facelifted Hyundai Venue, the upcoming Citroen New C3, and the already available Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kigger, and Nissan Magnite. The outgoing Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sold around 750,000 in the Indian market since 2016, with the automaker hoping to expand its market share in the country with the new Brezza.
