Nissan has joined forces with EV charging company Wallbox to offer electric vehicle owners an easy at-home solution for charging.
From next month, Nissan owners across the United States will be able to purchase the Wallbox Pulsar Plus level 2 home charger through the automaker’s website. The car manufacturer will provide a rebate on the charger and its installation to customers who purchase it through the program.
The small Pulsar Plus charger has been designed to work with all EVs on the market today and is especially well suited to homes, apartment buildings, and other multi-unit dwellings given its small size. The charger offers up to 9.6 kW of power and can be controlled from a smart device via Bluetooth or WiFi. It also works seamlessly with Alexa and Google Home voice commands and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation.

“As we continue our efforts to make EVs more accessible, this new program with Wallbox allows us to offer a simple solution for EV owners looking to install a home charger,” director of EV marketing and sales strategy at Nissan U.S., Adita Jairaj, said in a statement. “This initiative will make it easier and more convenient for more consumers to switch to EVs.”
Nissan hasn’t said how much owners will have to pay for the Pulsar Plus charger through its website. When purchased directly through Wallbox, the charger costs $649 and is eligible for a 30 per cent federal tax credit.
The announcement of the partnership between Nissan and Wallbox comes just ahead of customer deliveries of the Ariya kicking off in the fall. Primed to join the Leaf as Nissan’s second EV, the Ariya comes standard with an 87 kWh battery pack and is offered in three front-wheel drive forms, each with a single electric motor producing 238 hp and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque. Those after more power can opt for the flagship Ariya Platinum+ e-4ORCE AWD with its dual motors delivering 389 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm).
