There is, it cannot be denied, an unending appeal to the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am driven by Burt Reynolds in Smokey and the Bandit. And one need look no further than this Porsche Taycan for evidence of that.
Posted to the R/shitty_car_mods subreddit, the Taycan features a black and gold livery with pinstriping and, most importantly, the crest of a bird (aka the Screaming Chicken) on its hood.
The enduring appeal of the design and of the film has outlived Pontiac, Burt Reynolds, and the era of internal combustion vehicle exclusivity. The post features frustratingly little context but, from what we can see, the Taycan does a pretty good impression of a Trans Am.

Beyond the graven image, it also has gold wheels like the car featured in Smokey and the Bandit, as well as gold highlights under the headlights, which again harkens back to the movie car.
Amusingly, this isn’t even the first time that an electric vehicle has donned this decal. Back in 2018, we reported on a white Tesla that bore the Screaming Chicken on its hood. Oddly, it also had a hood scoop, which the owner of this Taycan has — wisely, in my opinion — decided to forego.
Not quite sure what it means that electric vehicle owners keep putting the design on the hoods of their vehicles but I do think it’s kind of nice. Just because we’re entering a new era in the automotive industry doesn’t mean we can’t look back fondly on the departing one.
