Gone are the days of dashboards full of buttons and switches that control all of the different functions of the car. Instead of looking like the cockpit of a small old airplane, modern automobiles look more like they’re out of a movie set in the future thanks to infotainment displays. That’s got us wondering, which one has implemented the system in the best way?
The very first infotainment system that we’d recognize actually came in the Buick Riviera. It was, however, so rough that Buick actually removed it after just a couple of years and we wouldn’t see another major step forward until about 2012.
That’s when Tesla debuted the portrait-layout giant touchscreen infotainment system that basically ended up being the genesis of this entire conversation. It was so fast, so easy to use, and so impressive that only the best systems available today have really caught up.

For example, Ford and Stellantis have introduced similarly sized screens to mostly positive reactions. The Uconnect system in many Dodge, Jeep, and RAM products is widely respected as one of the best in the business these days thanks to its ease of use and excellent graphics. The new front passenger infotainment screen in the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is also especially impressive.
Of course, it’s hard to ignore what seems to be the new king of infotainment systems that’s recently come out of Germany. Mercedes-Benz seems to have decided that it would just put as much screen as it possibly could on the dashboard.
The result is something that it calls the Hyperscreen and it has a combined 56-inches of total screen between what are actually three different displays underneath the glass panel that spans from one side of the dashboard to the other.
Nevertheless, it’s plausible that size doesn’t matter and that functionality and simple elegance is the most important set of factors. Kia’s UVO system is excellent and deserves some special mention here as well.
Maybe we’ve missed something though, so let us know below. Which infotainment display is actually the best one available on the market today and what facets exactly are the ones that make it so excellent in your eyes?
