Subaru models don’t get more iconic than the 1998 Impreza 22B STi and in August, a particularly stunning example will cross the auction block.
This particular Impreza 22B STi has been listed online by Silverstone Auctions and is expected to sell for between £100,000 ($120,000) and £120,000 ($144,000). That’s a lot of money for a Subaru Impreza but as anyone with knowledge about the car will tell you, the 22B STi is far from a normal Impreza.
The Japanese brand built the car to celebrate both its 40th anniversary and third consecutive World Rally Championship title. Just 425 examples were built worldwide, of which 400 were allocated to the Japanese market. This is number 318 of those 400.

Full details about this particular Impreza 22B STi haven’t been mentioned in the listing, other than the fact that it has been driven a touch over 36,000 miles (~58,000 km) and has been owned by the same person for the last 18 years.
In building the 22B STi, Subaru painted it in a stunning shade of blue while also fitting a vented aluminum hood with an enlarged scoop, widened fenders, rocker extensions, and an adjustable rear wing. It is also equipped with 17-inch gold-finished BBS wheels that contrast the blue paint nicely.
Making the interior stand out is the combination of the blue and black cloth across the seats and the blue trimmings on the door panels. There is also a three-spoke STi steering wheel and a shift knob with red contrast stitching. The car will also be auctioned off with STi floor mats complete with blue piping.
Power comes courtesy of a 2.2-liter turbocharged flat-four churning out 280 hp at 6,000 rpm and 268 lb-ft (363 Nm) of torque at 3,200 rpm that’s mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
