Spy photographers have caught the Mercedes CLE Convertible on multiple occasions, and now they’ve snapped pictures of its coupe counterpart.

Seen undergoing testing near the Nürburgring, the CLE Coupe is set to replace both the C- and E-Class Coupes as part of Mercedes’ effort to streamline their lineup.

While the car is heavily camouflaged, we can see it will feature a rounded, single bar grille with a honeycomb mesh insert. It’s flanked by C-Class style headlights and what appears to be sporty air intakes.

Moving further back, there’s a rakish windscreen that flows into a sloping roof. They’re joined by pronounced side skirts, an angular beltline, and frameless side glass.

Out back, we can get a glimpse of stylish LED taillights and an angular trunk with an integrated spoiler. Further below, there’s a curvaceous bumper that lacks exhaust cut outs.

Mercedes has been tight-lipped about the CLE and even its name remains unconfirmed. However, the model is expected to be based on the C-Class and feature a familiar interior with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as an 11.9-inch infotainment system.

Engine options should also be shared with the C-Class and this means we can expect a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder developing 255 hp (190 kW / 258 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. It should be joined by a CLE 43, featuring a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder developing 402 hp (300 kW / 408 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque.
