Fiat’s long-awaited production variant of 2018’s Fastback concept is just around the corner and has been teased for the first time.
The Fiat Fastback Concept was unveiled at 2018’s Sao Paulo Auto Show as a mix between an SUV, sedan, and a coupe. This teaser image reveals that it will retain the same sleek shape of the concept and it is understood that it is being aimed specifically at the Brazilian market, although it’s possible it could land in some other markets as well.
When looking at the rear half of the SUV, you could be excused for thinking it was an updated version of the BMW X6. Indeed, even the LED taillights look somewhat similar to those of the X6, albeit with some added Italian flair.

The sleek shape clearly continues across the front half of the Fiat Fastback with slim LED headlights partly visible in this teaser.
Reports state that the new Fiat Fastback will be underpinned by the automaker’s MLA platform that is also used by the Fiat Pulse. A number of powertrains could, therefore, be shared between the two, including possibly a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine with 130 hp and a larger 1.7-liter turbocharged mill delivering 175 hp.
Fiat has not yet previewed the interior of the Fastback, so it’s a little difficult to know what it will be like. We think it would be a safe bet to assume that the flowing, seductive design of the exterior will be mimicked into the cabin. It should also come with all the nice pieces of technology you’d expect from a modern car, include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Fiat was initially expected to introduce the Fastback back in 2020 but it was delayed for unknown reasons. It will now likely hit the market as a 2023 model.
