The Pontiac Solstice was GM’s attempt at making a fun, tossable roadster in the same realm as the Miata, but many felt that the car (and even the high-performance GXP model) could do with some extra power. Enter this 2006 Pontiac Solstice built for SEMA by Mallett Performance. Listed for sale on eBay, the car features an LS2 V8 under its hood for the added power many were looking for.
And it wouldn’t be a SEMA build without a body kit, which is why this car has a dual-scoop hood, a decklid spoiler, and new front and rear bumpers, the former with extra lower lights, and the latter with its lower lights removed. The Solstice‘s body is painted in the factory Aspen White paint, and metallic blue racing stripes were added afterwards. Inside, the car has been fitted with a Hurst shifter and new white gauges, while the seats have been reupholstered with tan leather bolsters and blue suede centers.

The crown jewel of this build is the 6.0L LS2 V8 from a Pontiac GTO, which makes 400 hp (406 PS / 298 kW) and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque. Compare that to the stock Solstice’s 177 hp (179 PS / 132 kW) and 166 lb-ft (225 Nm) of torque from a 2.4L inline-4, and you’re looking at over double the power, over double the torque, over double the displacement, and exactly double the cylinders.
All that power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission, which has been fitted with an upgraded LUK Pro Gold clutch to handle the extra grunt. Other performance upgrades include a Corsa exhaust, SSBC brakes with blue calipers to match the racing stripes, Budnik 20-inch wheels, and suspension tuned by Mallett.
